PARKER Contemporary Online Viewing Room - Booth U43

PARKER Contemporary is a fresh and dynamic addition to Australia’s contemporary art scene, located in Brisbane’s cultural precinct of South Bank. Under the direction of Gallery Director and Founder Emily Parker, the gallery is dedicated to showcasing contemporary printmaking, papermaking, and artists' books within a broader contemporary art context. With a focus ranging from bold, intricate intaglios to ethereal handmade paper, PARKER Contemporary is expanding the understanding and appreciation of works on—and of—paper. Its ever-evolving exhibition program features both emerging and established artists, highlighting the critical perspectives and captivating narratives inherent in these mediums.

Presenting the work of Carolyn Craig, Clinton Barker, Chris Hagen, Matthew Hurdle, Claudia Husband, Pat Hoffie, Tim Mosely, Michael Phillips and Ross Woodrow, the gallery showcases artists whose art practices push the boundaries of papermaking, intaglio, relief, lithography, and silk-screening. Print and paper-based works also present an accessible yet meaningful opportunity to expand established collections, aligning with key thematic concerns and artistic dialogues.

Works by artists associated with the gallery are held in significant public and private collections, including the British Library, State Library of Queensland, Harry Elkins Widener Memorial Library at Harvard University, Museum Meermanno Huis van het Boek, Griffith University Art Museum, University of Queensland Art Museum, Toowoomba Regional Gallery, National Library of Australia, Queensland University of Technology Art Museum, HOTA, the National Gallery of Victoria and QAGOMA.

PARKER Contemporary’s carefully curated collection offers works that not only provide immediate visual appeal but also long-term value, making them a worthwhile investment for collectors attuned to contemporary printmaking's cutting-edge visual language.
